A Day in my Four Legged Life // Vol. 5

Another installment of A Day in my Four Legged Life. This time from cat lady Jes of The Kitschen.
Hi! My name is Owen VonStinkermeister... but most people call me Owen.
I'm a stinky house kitty that lives in Tucson Arizona with my
camera happy mom, hardworking dad, and cantankerous sister named Inga.
Welcome to a peek into my WEEKEND!

First things first of course... after scratching on the door until Mom gets up I eat breakfast.

Meow Mix is the breakfast of champions.

Mom and I were planning a quick special "I Love My Life Party" for our favorite friend Kari
and I helped make the bunting banner.
I'm quite the contributing creative genius.

Breakfast parties are the very best!
Quite often in the middle of something, I'll get caught in a kiss attack.
I pretend that I hate kiss attacks, but really its my favorite thing ever.
This is Inga. Shes my sister and mostly a grouch.
You can tell she doesn't have very good manners.
but she's really smart so she gets to go outside...
I'm a little jealous to tell you the truth.
I get to only watch her from the inside.
This is one of my best friends, Mousey.
We play the funnest games, like the
"Throw-Mousey-Underneath-the-Door-So-I-Can-Pretend-Hes-Hard-to-Reach" game...
It keeps me occupied for hours.
After hardcore gaming, its time for my Alley Patrol shift.
I'm in charge of keeping the alley free from lizards, dogs, and birdies.
I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself.
Treat time is a perfect time to make ridiculous faces, just to...
...BIRD!!!
No really, a bird! They are my WORST enemy.
To show my contempt for them I gobble like turkey.
You know, gobbling for a scare factor.
It doesn't work very well... yet.
Family picture time didn't go so well... I don't think were very good at it.
Dad fixed out cooler because it's almost summer,
and it was my first time experiencing the most powerful air...
I didn't like it very much because...
BIRD!!!
Following my air cooler experience and impromptu bird watching,
it was time for a photo shoot of my adorable face.
THAT one actually went well.
Mom was making cupcakes and though I'm not allowed, I got up on the counter to sniff the...
BIRD!!!
Nap time can happen at anytime I deem necessary.
This is quite often, but I offer no apologies.
Especially when I sleep all day that way I can have
LOTS of energy to have a pouncing party while Mom and Dad sleep.
I'm a pretty good party planner.
Dad likes to watch "American Greed".
I like to watch Dad watch "American Greed".
God, today was exhausting.
Time to sleep for a few hours so I can get up for that pouncing party I was telling you about.
Thanks for taking the time to follow me throughout the day.
I'm adorably interesting, don't you think?

A Day in my Four Legged Life // Vol. 4

I am so super excited for this edition of A Day in my Four Legged Life! My dear, sweet friend Crystal is here with her little (big) pup Emmett and a day in his awesome four legged life!
8:00am: Wakey wakey, little pup! The alarm goes off and it's time to wake Emmett up from his bed on the floor next to ours. Most mornings, he takes after us and would rather lay around a little longer than he's allowed too. Time to get ready to go to work little guy!
9:00am: Fed and walked, it's time to get in to the car for the drive to work. Such a lucky little puppy that he gets to come hang out at work all day!
10:00am: Arrive at Etsy's Hudson office and grab a sip of water before greeting all of his best friends.
11:00am: The best moment of Emmett's day: when his best buddy Vegas arrives to work! For the next solid 15-20 minutes they chase each other around the office until they are at the point where they might hurl up their breakfast.
12:00pm: After giving them a break to cool down, it's back to play time with Vegas!
1:00pm: Lunch time in the crate, so the doggies who aren't eating lunch can't snag some of Emmett's food.
2:00pm: Another dog to meet! Satchel and Emmett meet for the first time. Satchel is an elder statesman of a dog, and is a little put off by Emmett's boundless puppy energy.
3:00pm: After a day full of playing, Emmett finally decides it's time to grab a quick snooze, but before long he and Vegas a re back to chasing each other around.
4:00pm: You can tell when Emmett is really tired because he needs to sit in Mommy's lap for a nap.
5:00pm: Lounging on the office dog bed, waiting for quitting time.

6:00pm: After bidding adieu to his buddies, it's back in the car for the drive home (sorry, forgot to take a photo!)
7:00pm: Home in time for dinner, yum!
8:00pm: A long day of playing at work takes it's toll on a little pup.
9:00pm: Oppp...still sleeping. And leaving a little drool on the couch...
10:00pm: Wake up buddy, time to take a walk and go to bed so that you can start it all over again tomorrow!

What a sweet pup, and he has such a lucky little life! Thanks for sharing Crystal and Emmett! If you are interested in sharing a day in your four legged life, email us at tumbleweeds.shop{at}gmail{dot}com!

Handmade Bowie Knife

Despite common belief, we don't just make sunglasses, although sunglasses take up so much of our time that we don't really have much free time to work on new projects. However, when we went to the ace hardware this morning, I talked Doug into getting a blank blade to start building a handle around, since most of the work needed to be done today was my work. I got busy, and Doug started digging through our wood pile to find a good piece of cedar to use. It's hard to believe that the knife started as just a and became something so incredible.
004
The handle started out looking like this gnarly piece above, and as I passed in and out of our sun room working on frames and packing up orders, and what looked like nothing, started slowing turning into something.

Doug is insanely creative and within a good hour, the handle was already taking shape and looking all kinds of beautiful. I took some photos of the final product. What a sight to behold. And of course, our house smelled like little bunnies all day because of the cedar.

My friend Danielle sent me those pretty beads a long time ago, and I have been saving them for something really special, and this knife is really, really special. I feel like this is something that we can keep forever.

I spent all day today working in the shop, puppy-sitting and doing taxes (ahhhh) and all three of those things give me something to share. First of all, despite anything that I have written that seems like I am down on working right now, I love what we do. I love the final product and I love our company and the business morals we stand by. I am not so great at communicating with customers, but you have to remember, I get a dozen emails a day about our shop, if not more, so I am getting a lot of practice.

Secondly, having a puppy around a few days a week (we watched Kaida aka poptart while Mo was at work today) is really fun but it makes me appreciate my dogs so much. For example, today Ollie was running around the front yard, we still don't have a fence and up runs these gnarly big dogs, and Ollie was a perfect gentleman. He listened, and ran inside, and he didn't mess with the other dogs. I was beaming with pride. After the incident with Poptart...er, Kaida, the first day we had her, I have been a little worried about Ollie. He's a good boy, but i want to be able to trust him.

And third, doing your own taxes when you own your own business is insane and I am glad that they are done, but I am exhausted. Totally and completely exhausted!

It's past midnight and we are actually going to bed early tonight (er, earlier than normal) so have a good Monday night! I should be back with part one of our home tour tomorrow! The Florida room aka my front porch aka my favorite place in our house!)
