What I Wore // My New Dress

I recently got this dress from a little thrift store down the street from my house. I love Halloween for several reasons, but most of all, because the vintage clothes that thrift stores have been hoarding all year finally come out for the costume section. What a shame, but I found this little treasure for $6. I like the pattern because it reminds me of a sofa. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, and it's also warm. And long. I'm so tall that finding dresses that don't look like shirts on me is always a challenge.

I'm still pretty self conscious about doing outfit posts, because I don't think I have great style, and I'm not itty bitty, and I don't think I am that photogenic. Even if I was skinny, I wouldn't be itty bitty {it's the dutch in me,} so I feel awkward about trying to model or whatever. That's the truth about it. I still want to lose weight, but I don't want to change my lifestyle. I like junk food and I don't really like working out (besides riding my bike) so I guess I am just a real life person. And that's that. But, I hope you like this pretty dress. I do!

  2. That dress looks great on you! And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who unashamedly likes junk food and doesn't like working out. Hooray for real life people!

  5. You look lovely, Beca. And I never knew you were super tall! How tall is tall? I once bought a pair of moccasins because I liked how they looked like someone's old sofa. Two years later, these same moccasins are all the rage. So there you go, your couch dress is cutting edge, my friend! Glad you're getting some wear out of your necklace!

P.S. I, too, hate working out, but I do the 30 min. shred and it rules! So quick and so intense. Once I got in the habit a little after school workout felt pretty ok. Then I eat some junk food. Okay, lots of junk food. ;)

  6. okay lady, i have a lot to say about this, so to keep it simple we'll use the numbering system!

    1. i like your dress, and i too tend to gravitate toward vintage clothing and bags that has an upholstery look to it. it's like, the more it looks like my great grandma's chairs, the better!

    2. you have great style, and you shouldn't question it. i always like seeing what you're wearing because i know it'll be something creative, and that is something everyone can appreciate.

    3. you don't have to be itty bitty to do outfit posts! i've got a small frame, but my ass sticks out far enough you could use it as a bar!

    4. i like that you're a real person. i like that you admit to eating food other than quinoa and organic veggies 24/7. i think a lot of bloggers aren't totally honest when it comes to food, they just want to jump on the health wagon and only talk about the most blog-worthy foods they've stuffed in their mouth. this is something i have a lot of feelings about! hahaha!

    5. i may not be the best person to give advice on confidence since i'm still searching for mine, BUT i've said it before and i'll say it again - YOU ARE AMAZING. you should never be shy about doing these or feel like you aren't good enough. you're the best! (think of the karate kid song).

    6. thanks for posting your outfit :) the end.

  7. thank you all for your kind words.

Danielle, I want to give you one millllllion bear hugs. I like being a real person, and I don't like quinoa. and I like veggies, but I like chips and coke and pizza more.

Sarah, I got the 30 day shred. I like it, I am just having a hard time being consistent. and motivated.

  8. You look SO adorable! Love that dress and oh my god, those boots! Also - thank you, thank you, thank you for adopting a cute misfit pumpkin! <3

As for fashion blogging, oh my word. I? I am not itty bitty. I am 5'4" and 185lbs. I like my junk food, I hate exercise, I wanna lose weight - but meh - I rock what I have! On top of that, I'm VERY pale AND my fashion style is jeans and t-shirts. I have ONE pair of jeans. That is IT. I wear them, wash them, wear them again. My only other pants are two pairs of PJs. :/ I need more clothes, lol.

  12. Girl, the more a piece of clothing resembles a couch, the more awesome I think it is! You might nit think that you have flawless style but I think that you look an awful lot like someone who is really freakin' cool.

Also, I've given up on most "itty bitty" fashion blogs unless they are seriously, exceptionally, out-there good. It's easy to look "good" when you are thin and young and femmy but it's always a way more interesting result when the body(ies) on display fall outside of any of those things.
