Cake Consultation

If you follow me on twitter, then you already know that yesterday afternoon, I had an excellent cake consultation. The bride is so laid back and appreciative of any suggestions and ideas. After talking, we decided on carrot cake with a rich cream cheese frosting. She loves the idea of fresh flowers, ruffles, and texture. Her colors are muted lavender, silver and beige. I'm really excited about the freedom she is giving me to be creative and make something really beautiful for her special day.

I wanted to share some inspiration cakes. She was very adamant about NO FONDANT. The rest will be some combination of the following cakes.

I know I haven't blogged in a few days, which may be the norm for other people but I don't usually skip days. I've just been really tired. I thought I was getting sick, but I'm okay. Just over worked. I'll be back later today with something awesome!

xo,
Beca

  5. i was the same way when we started talking about weddings; i knew i didn't want a lot of fondant. we ended up going the pie route anyway, so we don't have to worry about frosting at all. :-)

  6. the pie route is just as commendable!
I love pie, and there are so many flavor/size options with pie. and if done right, just as many decorating options!!

  7. Glad you had a good consultation! I got dragged into making a cake for a friend of a friends wedding and their expectation are a little unreasonable considering they want to stay under $100. Ah, well, you live and learn I guess.

  8. Ohmygosh! Making a wedding cake for under $100, unless you want something REALLY simple (which isn't a bad thing,) seems impossible! The person doing the baking will break even or even have to pay out of pocket... Especially if it has fondant!! I'm sorry you had to experience that.
If I had a bride come to me with a $100 budget, I would suggest pies. Lots of pies!! ;) mmm, I love pie! Can I suggest pies anyways??
