Adulthood - Working to Live

I spent most of my day avoiding my boss, grinding my teeth, and worrying. I am having serious doubts. Nothing comes out of the oven the way I want it to. I'm not going to write a novel about my job though, because while doing 9 loads of laundry, I journaled a lot, and really realized something that I have always felt, but seemed to have forgotten.

I work to live, not live for work. That's that.

After I picked up Doug from work, we went and did massive amounts of laundry, which was awesome. Then went to the grocery store, only went $1.19 over budget, came home and ate quesadillas and watched family guy. It was really nice to be productive and responsible.

I think it's bedtime.

  2. this post makes me think of a quote that i say over an over, and even tell my friends, "choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life" -confucius

i hope soon you're able to live for your work and not the other way around! i always remind chris when he talks about money that it is FAR more important to me to do what i love and live on little than be completely miserable and stuck in an office and have a fat bank account.

hope you have a good day, pretty lady!

  3. I think I have to remind myself of that same thing every day. It's really hard sometimes... but I've realized I couldn't have all the awesome things I have without this 8 to 5 for the time being... so I guess there is a trade off!

  4. I think most of us can benefit from that reminder. So many nights I go home doubting my abilities, worrying over what my boss thinks, when it's more likely that my boss isn't thinking much about me at all. : p

  5. one of the reasons i first fell in love with italy was it seemed everyone there worked to live.

and after a hard day, there's nothing better than eating quesadillas and watching carefree tv with your one.

we had a hard day at work too (me and husband) so i skipped pilates and we had the perfect date night that included starbucks petite deserts (thanks to a bday gift card!) and ate them listening to Ray Lamontagne while at the scenic spot of the city.

    perfection.
