Video Blog Vol 3 - Flea Market Finds and Dieting

***I wrote this post before I went to work, but the video wasn't done uploading...so it's a little late...sorry! AND for some reason cuts off after the kitchen timer.....I can't figure out why...but will try to fix it...sorry.***

Okay so, there is a lot going on in this post. Firstly, here is a video blog of some of our flea market finds from this morning. Don't mind my cat, he's an asshole. I love him, but seriously, he's a total jerk.

We went to Phil's BBQ for lunch today after the flea market. There was a line around the building to get in 15 minutes before it opened, but we stuck it out and in no time, we had gotten into the bar (and didn't have to wait in line for-ev-er) and then experienced the best BBQ in the world. If you are in the San Diego area and you are not a vegetarian, then you should definitely visit Phil's BBQ next to Kobey's Swap Meet.
It is our farewell (for at least a little while) to insane amount of heart attack inducing food. Is it true? Is it really true? Yes. I am afraid so, we are starting a diet, ahem, making healthier choices. No fun at all. But to be perfectly honest with you, I feel like crap. I ride my bike all the time, I walk to the post office and take the dogs on walks every day. I move around at work constantly. But it isn't enough. I don't feel good. So, Doug agreed to go on a no-processed foods diet with me. That means no more coca-cola (I'm dyyyyyying, already, just thinking about it) and no more junk food, chips, mac&cheese, hot dogs, gummy bears, alfredo pasta, etc etc etc. I don't know how long it will go on for, and how we will adjust, but I will definitely be updating (and complaining) as much as possible.

I also just bought Simply Pilates and will be exploring how I like pilates. I HATE doing yoga, and after talking to some friends, I am going to give pilates a shot. Gosh, I sound like such a nerd. Dieting, pilates-ing. What's next? I'm not one to really get behind anything, especially these kinds of things, which makes it so hard for me to share them with ya'll, but I'm tired of feeling like I am gaining weight again. I'm scared. I just want to be healthy.

I am excited about this weekend. Our friends Sarah and Cody are going to be in town and we don't get to see them often. I am trying to get tomorrow off...we'll see what happens. Gotta get ready for work now, have a wonderful Friday night!

xo,
Beca

  2. i love your shirt! love it, love it, love it! those are my favorite for the warmer months.

i've been trying to really think about what i cook lately so i don't eat crap (especially since i haven't been able to jump on my trampoline that much and i'm too lazy to use the treadmill) and my favorite so far is cut up red potatoes, baby carrots and onions smothered in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and oregano and baked. yummy!

needless to say, this cat and I had a very strong love/hate relationship

  5. hey! is it supposed to cut off like that? i got all excited for whatever is after the kitchen timer :) and wow your cat totally reminds me of these cats that used to chase me when i was on MY BIKE down the street and try to attack me when i was little. that's why i never liked cats until i met andrew's :) let me know how you like the pilates. i tried this pilates/yoga video once but there was too much whimsical bs talk, it was really strange (like "lift your arms to the sun/feel your spirit rising RISING" aahh!! i don't want my spirit to rise i just want to tone my arms damnit). i liked bikram or strength/power yoga tho, it's less whimsical bs and more sweat/work the hell out of your body. if i were you though, i'd just get a punching bag and hang it in your back yard :)

i think it's good to reacess diets and working out and stuff. it sucks how people were totally right about metabolism slowing down with age. i'm trying to eat less processed sugar which i've gotten pretty good at but man i suck at working out consistently! keep us updated!!
