There really is just something special about pumpkin pie. It is the symbol of the holidays. Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas - oh, and Doug's birthday! I stopped everything last night, put it all on hold, and made a quickie pie and let it bake while I took a much needed shower (multitasking at it's finest.) It was the perfect breakfast for a sleepy workaholic, and I enjoyed it with the tiniest dab of cream. Don't tell anyone! My stomach was super bummed, but I loved every second of it.
The leaves are all changing here in Tennessee, and the temperature is dropping. I prefer coffee to coke, and comfort food is key. I can't wait for Thanksgiving to get here. We'll be in Florida, where it won't really be fall, but will be with both of our families for an entire week. I have a feeling there will be more pumpkin pies in our coming future though. Don't worry about that.
Sweet potato pie is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteyou know a way to this southern girls heart. sweet potato pie is amazing.
DeleteUm, yum!! I LOVE pumpkin pie! Chad isn't crazy about it though and I can't have Gluten so these days pumpkin pie hasn't been in my life nearly enough. I want to try to make mini pie in a jar! i feel like then I could make just enough for myself and freeze extras for whenever I want...which is always. ;) You're so awesome Beca...seriously.

ReplyDeleteI think you are a perfect example of how being busy makes you do more. The pace of life is faster and therefore pie gets made even quickly.
Barnicles.
A few years ago, I was working in a bakery in Tucson, and it was the day before Thanksgiving. I got to work at 4:30am, and left at 4pm. I made 34 pumpkin and pecan pies that day. I could make pumpkin pie in my sleep now. and it's still my favorite!
