Land of 1000 Excuses

Hi. Nice to see you again. Long time no see. How's life? This space has been extra quiet this week, and it's mostly because I have had incredible writer's block. Usually when I can't think of anything to say, I just use photos, except that our card reader is broken, we're on a super tight budget until we get a paycheck we have been waiting on, and well, I could come up with 1000 more excuses, but I won't. I'll just say I am glad that finally kicked the bricks on my shoulders, battled some inconsolable sadness and worked something like 18 hours a day everyday this week. Also, this post will be riddled with instagram photos, even though I hate doing that (since it seems so redundant) but it's the best I can do without using photos that don't belong to me or pertain to my life.
We are still working like mad, even though sales have slowed to a crawl. That's terrifying to me, but I think it's because we haven't had a chance to update new styles yet. Or maybe everyone is secretly waiting for our next fab sale. I won't tell you when it is yet, but you won't have to wait long. Spoiler alert, it's going to be full of brand new styles we don't have available in our shop, and never will have available since they are exclusive for fab. We like putting our stuff on sale, it means even more people can enjoy them! Also, looking back at our last sale, and my epic blog post about it, I feel a lot better now that I have had a month of regular sleep and only minimal bumps in the road. So, sorry I'm dramatic, but sometimes a girls just gotta spill it.

We were recently featured in Cool Trans Magazine in Japan! SO COOL! It is our first real feature, and to be featured with Levis (who, by the way, tweeted that they like our sunglasses!!!! Eeeeeek!) was kind of a huge deal! I can't wait to get a copy in the mail! Fall Fashion Week is coming up in Japan and we will have a few styles displayed in our distributors showroom again. Cross your fingers for us!
Not sunglasses related but pretty rad, we just booked a photo job with a super rad local business and it's going to be a really fun project. I miss taking photos with Doug. We used to do jobs in Tucson sometimes, and it really is one of my favorite things. More on that later, since it wont be happening until late August-October.
Also, I started weight watchers again. Lord have mercy. I'm so tired of feeling gross all the time, but seriously, all I want to do is eat. I think it's stress eating. And I guess it's okay so far. My friend Crystal made a good point though, that it's hard when you are making a lot of food at home from scratch, because there are no point values attached to some things and you have to improvise, which seems like cheating. Also, why is it so hard to find coffee with cream in the index? Seriously. So I guess I am trying to focus on healthy eating, and maybe eating less and being more active. We have been going on these awesome nightly walks and it's becoming one of my favorite things to do. The dogs love it too, so win win.
And, now we're going to watch Children of Men before bed. I have been dreaming about that movie, so good thing it's on Amazon instant play, my new favorite thing ever! Last night we watched Camp Nowhere. Whoa, flashback central! Goodnight, and I hope you have a great weekend!

xo,
Beca

  1. Ha I am pretty awesome at excuses, too. It's probably one of the things I'm best at, actually. I'm not sure that's a good thing... ha.

I feel ya on the inconsolable sadness. Gah. That was me all last week. & this afternoon I totally fell myself falling back into it. Such a shitty feeling. Depression sucks. A whole freaking lot.

Bummer about your card reader! It's frustrating when you aren't able to upload photos & you wanna blog. Or at least post some photos on your blog so it's not just sitting there. It's funny how we feel like we MUST put something on our blog or we will disappoint our readers! Readers who probably have hundreds of other blogs in their google reader or whatever. And who also have lives & understand things happen.

That's pretty freaking awesome about the magazine feature! And wooooooo! Levi's likes your shiz! Even cooler.

Oh yeah, Keith thinks his new shades are the coolest thing ever. Haha. Just wanted to let ya know!

Okay, I totally left a novel... I'm gunna go to sleep now... maybe. Peace.

  2. Gah, you're so pretty. I feel like a creeper, but it's so true!!! Anyway... Blogger block is teh sucky. I can't even tell you how often the block hits me, especially when I'm in a depressed episode. >.< I feel bad because you've been sad and I hope you know that despite not knowing me very very well, you can always contact me and I'll lend an ear, a shoulder, what have you. *hug*

P.S. Trust me, lady, if I had the funds I'd buy a pair of your sunnies... okay, I'd buy quite a few!!! Your sales will pick up - promise. It's probably just because everyone's on 4th of July/Summer vacation!!!

  3. I'm glad you've gotten some sleep at least! And your salads are looking hella good. As is your living room. Can you convince Doug's sister to come help me organize? Also, I just sent your etsy shop and blog link to the gallery manager where I used to do photos for... They're opening a store and the owner loves your sunglasses. The gallery manager is Emma, she's really sweet and awesome so I hope she gets in touch with you and that it helps with your orders :)

  4. Mmmm... that salad looks amazing! I feel terrible that I just had bacon for breakfast (but then again, bacon, right?). That magazine feature is amazing, I love how cool and calm you are about it, I would be squeeing and jumping all over the place.
PS - love the last photo, too cute!

  8. I'm so glad to hear that you're doing another fab sale! I dropped the ball last time and it won't happen again. I've been a longtime lurker of your etsy store but a new blog reader, and I rarely ccomment anywhere but I wanted to say that I really appreciate your honesty in regards to your work and life...even when you love it, it ain't always easy, and it's nice to see that being acknowledged. Also I've been doing Weight Watchers online and have a very up-and-down graph to my name but something I've learned to do is to break down some things when tracking them- so instead of searching for coffee with cream, tracking coffee, and then the cream. It's a little bit of a pain in the ass initially but for me at least it became quicker and more second-nature over time. Good luck! And if you ever need a buddy you can find me, kristenrog@gmail :)

  9. I'm so happy you guys are going to be doing another fab sale, I missed out last time but hopefully I won't miss the boat this time!

I always have the same problem with weight watchers because I make pretty much everything I eat at home so it's so hard to figure out the points. But I recently came across the site Lose It! and it's really helped out! I'm able to put all my ingredients in and get an accurate count of my calories. It also allows you set a weight lose goal and will make your calorie intake accordingly. Haha I kind of feel like a sales person or something trying to sell you on that site, but I just really like it :)

    Hope your regular sleep continues!

  10. Hang in there, miss lady. Ups and downs are normal and when the ups are sooo high, the downs can feel even lower. Can't wait to see you guys sell out on Fab again! :)

Oh, and Weight Watchers.... It kinda changed my life. I don't really count points anymore, but my lifestyle is sooo improved since I started WW a few years ago. You can do it! And like someone else said, just break down the ingredients and tally up the points that way. Read the nutrition facts on your cream and figure out how many points 1T is, or whatever you're putting in.
