This year, we decided that we want to give back. I have been scouring the internet for an organization that I feel strongly about donating to, and after having little to no success finding a good hunting dog rescue, and feeling leery about a few others, we came across the Save the Manatee Club here in Florida. I instantly knew this was the one I was looking for. I grew up coming to Florida several times a year and visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park with my family often. I have super fond memories of the sweet manatees.
We are so very excited to now donate $1 for every order placed in our shop. At the end of every month we will make a bulk donation to SMC. In January, we had 56 orders, and hope to double the amount we can donate for February! It doesn't take a lot of money to give back, and if you don't have the money, you can always donate time! 2012 is the year of giving back in any way you can!

Follow @savethemanatee on twitter or check out their website for more information on how you can help. You can also adopt a real manatee and you get a photo of them, and an option to visit them in their habitat! If you have never seen a manatee in real life, you should, because they are so gentle and majestic.

Manatees are my favorite animals. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm out of school/have more time, I'm going to open an Etsy store I'm going to have $1 per purchase go to the manatees. This is so exciting that someone else has the same idea.

DeleteThis is amazing and such a great organization to give to! I have actually supported SMC for a couple years now trying to get the word out there about them. I still have yet to see a manatee in person but they have always seem to tug at my heart :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to have such an amazing cause to donate too. I'm glad you have been supporting them too!
