Learn to be Smart, Born to be Sweet

I'm feeling bold, or delirious, but either way, this is what I look like with no sleep, no make-up and a stomach full of butterflies. We drove to La Jolla today to deliver an order of sunglasses to the Museum of Contemporary Art's X-Store. I was nervous as hell, and still worry about what happens to our sunglasses when they leave us.
We have been working so hard, like so insanely hard, and I wish all of our customers could come visit us in our studio to see whats going on. I'll tell you, since I started taking more of a hands-on role in our business, I am realizing just how much work it is, and how important it is to be mindful of detail, consistent and thorough. We have been pretty lucky though, because our customers are so understanding when we do make a mistake. YES, we make mistakes! I can admit it, I can blog about it, I can scream it from roof tops if need be. But, I think it's way better to admit when you make a mistake, and fix it, rather than be perfect every time. Nobody is perfect! I am so proud of the work we have done and happy to be able to fix any mistakes we do make. That should mean more! Anyways, that's my miniature, sleep deprived moment, now back to the rest of my life.

Look at all those sunglasses! We're excited to see how the museum displays them and to hear how they do.
We met up with my cousin and his sweet lady friend on the way home for a bite to eat and a little beach time. Even during our busiest days, we have to make time to eat, and it was so good to see family! I haven't seen him in YEARS, which is unfortunatel because he is so rad. So very good to see family, I can't even explain! We got a whole pound of shrimp and some fish tacos and it reminded me of Florida! I was in heaven!
And when we were leaving, we walked past an icecream shop that seriously pulled us in, it smelled so very good. I am allergic to milk, so I can't really eat icecream, but they had soy milk-free icecream and I was SO STOKED! Doug, Alek and Adair all got waffle sandwiches! Yes, you heard that right. If you want two warm mini waffles with a scoop of icecream in the middle, OB icecream shop on Newport avenue is the place to go.
We came home, although I was sad to leave my Cousin but hopefully will see him soon while he is still in southern California, finished up some work for the night, and now it is definitely time for bed. We have another busy day tomorrow. Sorry if I owe you an email, or anything, I am getting organized the next two days while I'm not at the bakery.

BY THE WAY, did you get a chance to enter the contest over at Kaylah's blog, The Dainty Squid?Be sure you stop by and wish Kaylah a happy birthday, too! Head on over there, the contest is open until the 10th {which by the way is my last day at the bakery! Two days before my birthday!}

Also, not to make this too overly long, I was so excited to see that Carly blogged about the cake I made for her San Diego wedding reception! Check it out! She's so sweet! Made my night!

xo,
Beca

  6. Were the shrimp and fish tacos from South Beach Bar & Grill? Kind of looks like it! You should have their lobster tacos... they're amazing. I get them every time I'm down that way.
