Walnut Burl is one of the first wood veneers we worked with on a pair of sunglasses and are still a favorite. It has beautiful knots of burl and the shades can vary so drastically. Such a beautiful and classic wood.
American Walnut is the lovely, subtle sister to the Walnut Burl. It is sweet and has the softest grain. Perfect contrast to our most flared wood and great for people who aren't really looking to stand out, but just have a great, affordable pair of wooden faced sunglasses. They also seem to always have quite the pretty gradient.
Now for my personal favorite! My own sunglasses are in zebra wood and I love them! Zebra wood is classified under Microberlinia or Zebrana from Central Africa. You can get it with a tight grain or a loose grain. I like them both!
Ebony, the darkest wood we have and the most rich. It is almost black once finished and have a great texture even under the enamel.
And finally two woods that we have a very limited supply of // Amboyna and Fire Bush, both rare and beautiful woods.
LOVE the walnut burl!
