A list of Things, again.

1. I drove Dougie to work this morning so I could use the van to do laundry and go to the post office, and since I don't drive on the freeway, I took the back roads home. First, drove through downtown, which was so sad. It is homeless camp after homeless camp and it was raining to day. It just made me feel sad that there are so many people in San Diego who don't have homes. I feel eternally grateful for my full time job, my part time job, people who buy from our shop, my amazing boyfriend who works so hard to keep us living in this beautiful city, and my home. My sweet home. After getting through downtown, I found myself in Golden Hill. Now, entering an entirely different world from downtown, yet only a few minutes away. I have never driven through Golden Hill before, but I fell in love. It is beautiful and old and I want to live there someday.

2. It's raining again. This has been such a long, long winter and I am so over the rain and the cold. I want to go to the beach, and the park, and wear tank tops and shorts. I want to put away the space heater and keep the windows open all day. I want to be barefoot and work on our garden and play in the yard with the dogs.

3. I have SO much to do today. I can't remember the last time I had a real day off, and I am going to revel in it, and get everything done. I made a beautiful to-do list that makes me so happy. It includes eating pizza at some point, and finishing listing treasures in the shop. Laundry first!

What's on your to-do list today?

xo,

  1. I'm at work! Spring break in a month though, wahoo!
Today my students are doing a self critique of their action photos, and together we will be picking out the best prints to hang in the office. I always love hanging their work up for the other teachers and admin to see, I feel like it reflects well on me as a teacher, and also shows off how creative the students are. Plus it reminds me how awesome my job is because I'm not grading essays in English or looking at lab reports in science :)

  2. Oooh, I miss teaching for those exact reasons. My media arts middle schoolers made their own paper a few years ago and then write stories on it and we hung that up (I rarely got space in the office, the displays were always booked.)

You're such a good teacher, Nik. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love Golden Hill. Before looking at a rental a year ago, I ended up there while trying to find a bathroom. :) I fell in love immediately.
I've heard that they are going to have a farmer's market, which I think gives San Diego a farmer's market everyday.

  4. So rad! I really am totally in love. I think Adams Ave farmers market is tonight (or tomorrow...) I've been meaning to go. It's so close!
