Half a Six Pack of Kittens

Last night, Doug and I took a drive. We are notorious for going on long drives to hash out ideas, talk about the future, make plans, and just talk. We were driving kind of aimlessly, through downtown, through the projects, through the industrial zones, through the suburbs and quite suddenly, Doug slammed on his brakes, flipped the truck around and pulled onto a big lot. I saw something move. Something little and white. Something adorable. At least I was guessing it was adorable, since it was furry and tiny. Then I saw another, then another. Sweet baby Jesus, it was a litter of kittens! I scooped up the biggest one right as it was headed towards an oncoming car (induce heart attack now...) and Doug wrangled the other two into his arms. It was pretty epic. They were covered in burrs, fleas and all skin and bones. I held them in my lap as Doug ran into the store to grab soft cat food and baby shampoo. They meowed and purred and nuzzled and wriggled.
They are sweet as can be, and our animals are slowly warming up to them. Of course, we can't keep all three, but the pretty little lady in the photos is now our newest pet. We are going to start looking for homes for the boys soon. They are too little to be separated, so maybe in a few weeks. We haven't named her yet, any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I have never had a kitten before. I have Mookyo, the grumpiest oldest cat alive. He's 15 now and this little black and white kitten looks like his mini-me. He is not super stoked on the little kittens, and Ollie kind of wants to eat them, and Charlie could care less. But I am sure they will get used to each other eventually. Or they'll do what dogs and cats do. I'm just so happy that we saved these little babies from a almost certain death. This girl fits in my hands, and purrs like a motorboat. The littlest boy is really skittish and shy, but he's really cute, and the biggest is bossy and loud, and takes care of the two littlest. I'll take photos of the boys tomorrow.

We're not building an arc, but we sure do seem to attract a lot of animals...

xo,
Beca

  1. She is just perfect (I've been kitten-stalking you on instagram too). Well done on rescuing them - nearly all my cats have been rescues, and they deserve every cuddle they ever get!

  3. That's what you call being in the right place at the right time! I'm so glad that you could catch them. We just got a new kitten too and the older kitties are real grumps about it. They'll most likely accept your little one though. SO cute.

  4. Aww! I'm glad to hear you've decided to keep one, and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding homes for the others. And I will also continue to kitten-stalk you on IG.

  5. Yes I have been kitten stalking too! How about ghost, since it was the little white tuft of movement that you both saw which brought her into your life :)

Plus cats have sneaky ghost feets.

  8. That's so weird! I just got a new kitten on saturday and I have only ever had the same cat for 14 years! I named my newest kitty Luna Galaxia Destroyer of worlds. I think Baba would be a cute kitten name aslo.

  9. When I was 14 I found saved a kitty from a farm. One of the famers in our village was trying to kill it in a bucket full of water. filled it up, stuck the kitty inside and shut it with a huge and heavy board. When I heard the crying I went searching and I swear the minute I saw that kitty I started crying like the biggest baby. How horrible can people be to try and kill an innocent kitty. I don't even want to know what happend to his brothers and sister. I took it home and told the story to my parents and then he was our new family member. We named him tyler. When I found him he was still so young. He always was a weird goofball, not really behaving like a cat should. My mom always said that he probably never learned certain things because he was taken away from his momy much to soon. Tyler was So my cat. He lai on my bed when I wasn't around and was just the cooles dude ever. He looked kind of like that little kitty you guys are keeping. black and white and adorable eyes. About 3 years after I found him he got hit by a car :( It was one of the saddest days ever. Sory for my rambling. That little kitty up there just reminded me of the whole thing again.

Such a beautiful beautiful kitty. How can you not fall in love with such an adorable creature?

  12. How good of you to save them! She looks like a sweetie. My boyfriend and I found a little kitty last year, crying from some bushes, separated from her mother after a terrible storm. I had to keep her until she was big enough to be adopted, and she only weighed one pound!

Hopefully your grumpy old man will take to being their papa and become protective and fatherly. : )

    best of luck!

  15. Oh my goodness! So cute, and it's such a miracle you guys found them. Or, I've heard that cats actually find their owners, we don't find them. Either way, kittens are so fun! Best of luck with your trio.

  16. Eeeek, ya your photos on IG in the past few days of these little babies have been KILLING me!! I totally want another cat...or rather a kitten, a permanent kitten who doesn't grow up.

I think Matilda is a super cute name for a kitty. Matty for short.

  17. you should name her sweet baby jesus.

i love when kittens purr like motorboats and make biscuits on my stomach or head. feels so good. you know my thoughts on most cats, but kittens are cute. and kittens who need you are even cuter!

i'm so glad you guys are working your way up to arc status, because i think this world has far too few true animal lovers!

  19. Oh so! so cute! My boy and I seem to find stray, injured and lost animals almost every time we leave the house! 3 of our four cats were strays/dumped. I wish I could have an ark and save all the little guys too!

This nearly made me cry, it's a miracle you found them.
Maybe a name meaning miracle would be a nice name for your little lady?
