Estate Sale Finds

Doug and I took the morning off to do a little estate sale shopping. We don't sell vintage anymore, so we only really buy for our own collection. Who knows if we'll ever have a vintage store again. I think our direction has changed a great deal, and although we do want to open up another storefront, at some point, it will be much different than our last store. Anyways, we have a pretty extensive collection of the oddest vintage wares, to the most mundane, everyday type of stuff.

Today we added to our collection - 1. tiny roller skates $2 (will probably send to a friend's kiddo,) 2. a vintage runner for my hallway $1, 3. an easter jumper $2 (also for a friend,) 4. a pretty blue tea towel $.50, 5. birds nests (the lady wouldn't charge us for these, so FREE,) 6. A vintage Amish marriage certificate, unused, $1, 7. the prettiest hand printed paper $.50, 8. A sweet flower slouch bag $1, 9. An awesome vintage beach bag $1, 10. A Chattanooga plaque $1. Not pictured is some awesome fabric, an entire garbage bag of it for $2, a bunch of dude stuff for Doug (vintage flashlight $1, some tools, a coleman cooler $15.) We ended up doing pretty good and not spending a whole bunch of money.

I also recently got a new photo editing suite and honestly, its been 5 years since I graduated from college and I don't do much technical stuff anymore, and I certainly don't do very much photo editing besides fixing white balance and simple editing stuff. So, here is my attempts at reteaching myself some basic photoshop junk. I feel like a total beginner, when 5 years ago I was designing DVD jackets in illustrator, creating DVD menus and making really awesome PS projects for school. My brain is fried...

Also, we got a new camera in the mail today. Holy Jesus it's a beast. It's about as big as my face and we're waiting patiently for our lens adapter to get here so we can use our awesome Olympus lenses on it. I like Canon, I used to shoot with a rebel that my mom gave to me as a gift for my college graduation. I loved it until the auto focus broke and couldn't be fixed. I've been shooting on Olympus since, and love the two camera we have now, but Doug has been listening to me yammer on about how much I enjoy taking food photos, and how I want us to have a real, legit studio setup (!!!) and how it would be nice to get a new camera. Well, it happened and I am so stoked on it! We did some free lens shots when it got here, and even those came out beautifully. See!
Anyways, I have to get back to work. Just wanted to pop in and share some of our day. How is you weekend going so far? Any awesome plans?

xo,
Beca

  3. The states are so pretty and cute. Everytime I find some old ones they are too worn to actually use them (dirty inside etc.)

  5. Your estate finds are perfectly coordinated -how did you do that?! :) I wanted to say what I am doing this weekend. I am really struttn' my alter ego as a lil' flirt in my new heart-shaped Tumbleweeds glasses - -who is this person?! You should really think about marketing the magical powers that come with the glasses, to bring out people's secret identities. :)

    big ox, Beca!
